Well it’s extremely hot..  where once we might avail ourselves of a bit of sun come breaktime, it’s now become a matter of diving for cover come sunrise. It’s like vacationing on Saturn.

The heat fried our comms too. Take a look at the attached video..  and no, it’s not supposed to do that. That particular piece of kit is our link to the outside world, some call it the Facebook antenna, which for some reason has become as indispensable as oxygen (even though we didn’t have it pre ‘05), so myself and BJ have been making repeated forays up into the hell chamber that is the forward funnel, where it lives, to try to coax it back to life. As it shares it’s quarters with five exhaust pipes, 2 crankcase breathers and a poo tank vent you can imagine what fun we had squatting up there on untreated fibreglass decking in the Greek noonday sun, pondering the wisdom of black cotton overalls.

Anyway, thanks to our trusty support group, who flew out on a moments notice with spares, then flew back and then flew out again with more, we are back online. Mind you it’s only 9.30. If we vanish around noon you’ll know why..  I’m trying to be optimistic, but I am governed solely by the law of Sod.

In other news, we have left Greece finally and will most likely not return there this season. We are off to Croatia for a spell, then Montenegro.

It’s getting to feel like a very long season, but we’re over the worst and the girls are holding it together like the Amazonian princesses they are, (Bonsai in Tam’s case). Plus I am learning how to swear in Icelandic, which is nice.
